Carrabelle 9/2/06

Post by birddog »

My son and I met my FIL and a friend at Carrabelle Marina for an offshore trip Saturday. Underway 8:30, headed towards the backside of Dog Island to pick up some pinfish. Managed about 40 or so before the blowfish took all of our small hooks. :smt013 Didn't matter though, cut bait was the bait of choice today.

Headed off the east end of Dog Island making for the V-tower, but checking holes along the way.

Managed 5 nice grouper (3 gags and 2 red) and a boxfull of red and lane snapper. Ended up south of the V-Tower in 90' water, catching and releasing all the short red grouper we could stand. I thought the red grouper fisheries was in trouble.

Caught most of them on squid and spanish sardines. Live bait didn't seem to do the trick this time.

It was a great day on the big pond. Can't wait til next time.
