VHF Radios

Post by jmart2601 »

I have an older "Horizon" model VHF radio...it had not worked until I re-wired my electrics. I now can turn it on; & scan up/down channels; I can hear/get squelch; etc... etc...but can't seem to receive anything, even on Channel 16. I tried transmitting this past weekend but no luck either.

I had called 2-3 radio places for potential repair, but by the time they check things out, & any possible repair needed, they tell me that I could buy a new one cheaper!

Anyone got any recommendations???...except pitch it & buy a new & better model?!?

Here's the home page for Standard Horizon. Click on the "contact us" tab and you can send them an email. There is also a phone # on that page as well.

"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

Make certain you are set for U.S. frequency and not International frequency.

I put into Shield's launch last Sun...tried to contact the marina for a "radio-check"...no response, etc. I get "squelch" but no radio contact. I can't seem to send or receive...I'll contact "Standard/Horizon" for help.

THANKS!
