Got to the landing about 0730....only 2 trucks there. Hmmmmm. Went on anyway..launching on a low tide of 1.4. No real problem. Made it on out to the mouth of the river. There were 2 boats of us....Dixie Reble and partner in the other boat. We stopped pretty close to the entrance of the river...and something cut Rebel's buddy off with a 50 test leader within a few minutes. Had to be a shark...of which we saw 3-4 more during the day.
Time past and we did not have but one keeper trout at 1130....fishing to the east and west of the river. Begin to think it was a lost cause....but about 12 or 1230 we caught 5 keepers within 30 minutes in about 6 ft of water...on gulp...new penney....c/t and streight lineing jigs. Time to radio the other boat...when we found out they had picked up 4 trout....close in...in 3-4 ft of water.
We went on to catch here there and yonder a limit of trout (10) and one 19-20 in. redfish in our boat. Dixie Rebel and his partner got 8 trout and 2 keeper reds....on mainly new penney gulp grubs on c/t.
Turned out to be a very good day...and we quit close to 1500 hours and came to Tville for a great supper...and lots of tall tales. Weather was perfect. Cool weather is a true blessing.
Floating grass was a real headache when the tide started coming in....but cleared up somewhat later.
