Miss Jem and One More Time

Post by Chipola »

I am working up some float plans for my upcoming week off to fish (May4-11) and was wondering if hitting the following sites would be worthwhile: specifically Miss Jem, Carabelle Reef Barge, the C Tower or the Apalachicola City(which I believe is a sunken barge).

My fish of preference is grouper or snapper, with a few AJs thrown in for fun.

I'll be running my 19' ft Cape Horn fully outfitted. Have been successful out on the bridge spans, but looking for better opts.

All should yeild snapper. Keeper grouper may be hard to come by. Franklin County Reef should be a good spot for AJ's and cobia.

Thanks Tom,

Any suggestions on where to look (generally speaking of course) for Grouper?

I would troll stretch 30's in 50-60 feet and look for hard bottom. The triangle between the Yamaha, One More Time and O tower has plenty of good bottom.

Plotting the triangle & 30s

Post by Chipola »

Thanks again Tom. I've got an assortment of Stretch 30's to troll and I'll use my #53 Maptech chart and the Furuno 600 to find the hard bottom.

One more question, do you tie your Stretch 30s directly to an 80# plus leader or do you use a short wire leader. I've had a couple of lures fall prey to the sharp teeth of Kings when attached using mono.

thanks again.

I have never used wire, and have never lost any to kings. However it is cheap insurance.
