West of St Marks 10/3

Post by bman »

Dad and I got out yesterday- explored some new territory west of St Marks and had a great day. Lots of action- Trout, Lady's, Mangos, Croker, Spanish, and dad caught a big stingray he knew was a Red. :-D

Fished Gulp and Shrimp on jigs alone and under cajun thunder.

We came home with 2 keeper trout, 3 big crokers and the biggest Spanish I have ever caught- well over 20 inches. I was working a gulp jig back to the boat and he almost ripped the rod out of my hand. Got him in the boat and my line was shredded- left me wondering how he didn't get off.

I'm breaking out the smoker!
:lick: :lick:

Had to finish this with photos of the smoked fish- Brined it with brown sugar, salt and water for 4 hours. Smoked it 2.5 hours on the charcole smoker with hickory. Turned out perfect.
