St Marks Thursday

Post by Reel Slow »

Hadn't been out to St Marks since August but had a couple guests in town that wanted to try some reds. Never needing more of an excuse we headed out in tandem.

Running through the refuge, they pulled over to fill out a pass, and I kept going. I passed The Man on the way in just about 45mph, and got a good look. Backed in boat expecting friends to show up and drop me off.....didn't happen....The Man thought twice of them doin 55 and stopped em but let them off with a warning :o .

Water was comin in strong from 9:00 till high tide, we boated 5 keeper trout right off as I trolled through a trout area toward one of my red areas from last fall. Then here comes this Arse :smt013 riding in on my spot....that Arse turned into TC :D as he approached and after some introductions and small talk we split the gulf in half  .

To make a longer story short, it was my second best day at St Marks. We landed 16 reds to 28", most in the slot. One guest caught his first 3 reds! Topwater was good for about 6 of them with my favorite skitterwalk. Spoons on the rest. Twice, we had 3 on at the same time! Good stuff till about 1:30.

To top it off I landed a topwater 25" trout, that was released to fight again. We picked up a few more keeper trout and headed to the hill. Blessed to be out there today

Good to see you out there TC !

...and, most importantly, grow big & bigger ones.
Days later I like thinking about big trout I caught still swimming around terrifying Pinfish.
