port st joe area report

Post by 1-850-Bay-Fish »

The St Joe area bite has picked up with larger trout being taken off the grass flats on the west side of the bay. Spanish are moving around the oil docks in good size and numbers so if its off the beach your looking for then head to the oil docks. The tarpon can still be landed from the beach using a mullet fished free lined off the oil docks also. Flounder are coming out of the Gulf County Canal and you can catch them from the beach at the Tapper bridge using bull minnows and grubs. With the fish on the move around the beach it makes for good family fun and at the Tapper Bridge there are restrooms on the west side.

Is the "Tapper Bridge" the same as the Highland View Bridge over the St. Joe Canal.

I worked on that bridge during the test piling operations in late '91 and early '92. I just haven't heard it referred to as the "Tapper Bridge" before.

How things change. My grandparents met each other in Highlandview back in 1934. Later were married in 1935 in Wewa.
