Headed out about 8:30 am from Shields and caught a few pins to lure any cobia around the marker buoys. Had one about 30lbs on for about 10 seconds then cut off under one of the buoys. Couldn't entice anymore cobia so we headed into the east flats. It must be the year of the lizzard fish! Since I don't eat lizzard we headed back into the oyster bars west of the lighthouse to hit the incomming tide at the right time (about 10:30 or so) and the fight was on! I never thought I would experience a day where I was catching trout but I couldn't get a limit because I had to keep tossing them back becaue they were all too big. 21',22',22',23',24' hogs.....all on gulp shrimp. Also got a big 22' Blue, he was a fun fight. We had to move to a different spot just to catch a few smaller trout to fill in the limit.
Anyway was a great day, felt sorry for the guy trying to cast net mullet all around us. Everytime he would move to a different bar, the mullet would start jumping on every oyster bar he had just left.
Thank you Lord for the wonderful day of fishing and a full stomach of fish for dinner.
I caught a limit on that high tide yesterday too but they just were just legal except for a 17"er. Fish did hit good though. caught these fish real quick.
