I got one: Wear your kill switch when fishing alone lest you get thrown from your vessel 3 nautical miles from dry land, in late January, amidst the winter sea fog obscuring visibility to approximately 100 feet, without a life vest in open water that is struggling to approach 57 degrees.
I got another: When bobbing in 57 degree open water without a life vest and no reliable method of discerning which way to dry land, swim in the direction of the prevailing onshore breeze and pray the wind doesn't shift.
Last one: When swimming with what you hope is still an onshore breeze in 57 degree open water without a life vest, do not hesitate to disrobe from your long pants, tie knots in the cuffs, and inflate as needed (trust me it works).
I lied, one more: Buy lots of life insurance.

AND don't leave your plug at the ramp when you leave.

Towing your canoe behind your bicycle, your arrival at the ramp is the wrong time to discover your paddle and your pushpole are still on the front porch.
When your wife has the biggest fish of her life beside the boat and asks for the landing net, it's a poor time to tell her you didn't bring one because you didn't expect to catch one of those, especially not one that big.
Unrelated to above: There is no faster way to completely demolish a new landing net than to put a green cobia in it.

Its when you are fishing in the winter, While fishing with your jeans and work boots on. While moving around the boat and or relieveing yourself you stumple and fall out of the boat. Then you realize the water is so cold it hurts. Then you also realize that while waring your jeans and work boots you can not swim. That scares me.
That has nevered happened to me, But it is something I think about a lot.
My mother told me about a satistic, that said the majority of men who drown are found with their pants down. "Pissing". Something to think about.
Everybody be careful this winter.

If we were all crazy, Wouldn't that make us all normal.
