I went to rinse my little rig at the landing off of 98 on the St. Marks river on 10/15 after fishing in the muck at Wakulla Beach. Anyway, there was a gentleman at the landing, waiting to meet someone who was interested in buying his boat, who stated that the Reds were biting in lower Ochlockonee and I thought, "hmm, maybe I'll go check it out." So I put in at the landing just south of, but really close to the State Park. I don't know, maybe the guy was "pulling my leg" or I was too low on the lower Ochlock but we caught nothing and I didn't see anyone else fishing really. So I pulled out of there around 11:00 and decided to head out towards Apalach because the tide was rolling out later there. Plus, lunch seemed like an excellent idea. Ended up out in some creeks in the Tate's Hell. It was nice and quiet out there. This was my girlfriend's first inshore expedition. Anyway, I caught some trash fish that sort of resembled a red but looked more like a mudfish. A little later, my "old lady" hooked up with her first red within the slot and boy were her hands full. Now she is an addict as well as I, having just recently been introduced to the inshore.
