Talquin 10/29

Post by boggob »

There was a bass tournament on Talquin today but based on my experience on the water, it must have been a light weigh-in. The big boys were running all over the lake today in search of the elusive. I must admit that my partner and I ran all over too, only to find one puny bass at just about time to "head for the hill." It was still a great day and we got take a break from fishing at Whippoorwills'. Spoke to a couple of boats fishing for specs and they had a slow/ no bite as well. Another boat came by and admitted their frustration with the day and thought it may be due to their lack of experience on Talquin. It may well have been because I am no pro, but we let them know that if we brought the kitchen sink we would have thrown that at 'em too. I was fishing from the "back of the boat" and I was counting my blessings for not being skunked. Back at the landing, the boat pulling out said they caught a mess of catfish and bream on worms. BTW, I got the little bass on a standard-issue paddle-tail.

You were fishing a high barrometric pressure, bluebird day, behind a front. I've fished Talquin for over 30 years. On days like yesterday I'm fishing for a bite. That's tough fishing.
What was I supposed to do today?
