TROUT CATCHIN ECONFINA

Post by FUTCHCAIRO »

THIS MORNIN , 11-1-06, THE OLD MAN OF THE SEA AND ROY LAUNCHED THE STARCRAFT AT ABOUT 7 A.M. AT ECONFINA. WE WENT OUT TO THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER AND A LITTLE TO THE RIGHT AND STARTED CASTING TOP WATER PLUGS. AFTER SEVERAL BLOW-UPS ROY CAUGHT THE FIRST TROUT. WE FISHED THE AREA AROUND THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER TILL 12:30 AND THEN HEADED IN. WE HAD OUR LIMIT OF NICE TROUT BY 11:30, WE ONLY CAUGHT 11 TROUT AND ALL BUT ONE WERE KEEPERS. WE USED DOA GLOW SHRIMP ON JIGS, GULP SHRIMP ON JIGS. AND SEVERAL OTHER GRUBS UNDER CORKS, FISHED TOP WITH DEVIL HORSE, BOMBER, MIRRO-LURE , AND SEVERAL OTHER BRANDS. THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT UNTILL THE WIND STOPPED, THEN IT GOT HOT. IT IS AMAZING HOW MUCH DIFFERENCE ONE WEEK CAN MAKE. LAST WED. WE WERE SO COLD THAT WE WERE SHAKING AND COULD NOT GET WARM, TODAY HAD TO STRIP DOWN TO OUR SHORTS TRYING TO KEEP COOL. HAD A GREAT DAY ON THE POND AND CAUGHT SOME NICE TROUT. IT LOOKS LIKE TOMORROW WILL BE STILL ANOTHER CHANGE WITH HIGH WINDS ALL DAY LONG AND THEN COOLER. GLAD WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT TODAY.

No, that wasn't us. We saw that boat but didn't stop at JR'S. Most of our fish came from clumps of grass some people call nutgrass, big bushy stuff. I gotta have a big fishfry this weekend because I sure want to get back down there. :smt004

I BELIEVE THE CLUMPS OF GRASS YOU DISCRIBED WOULD BE TURTLE GRASS, IF IT HAS SMALL BALLS OR NODULES ON THE END THIS IS WHAT IT IS.
