Cedar Key offshore. Grouper N’ Kings. Wed, Nov 1 06
A friend & I departed the Cedar Key dock at 7 a.m. with the goals of catching a few grouper and secondarily developing some Cedar Key grouper numbers. For the last five years I’ve grouper fished out of Steinhatchee but now have decided to do most of my fishing in Cedar Key.

Ummmmmm……. Nothing like grunts, grits, and cheeks for breakfast (and the way to start a day of school).
I forgot to add that it was four days pre-full moon. Of the five grouper I cleaned four had full stomachs containing both small & large sized herrings, while the fifth was empty. What I found to be rather interesting was that none of the five had any fat reserves like I would have expected this time of the year. They must pile on the eating in the fall to build up those reserves cause these five grouper didn’t have any.
