port st joe area report

Post by 1-850-Bay-Fish »

Port St Joe area is still holding some fish along the gulf beach . Good whiting bite along with some big redfish. The black drum and sheepshead are there also moving along the beach so if the wind has your boat parked in the drive way or you just want to spend time with the family on the beach bring your surf fishing gear along and you will be happy with the catch. The gulf county canal is stacked with small trout. The trick to landing the bigger fish is go deep. Find the holes and you will find larger fish. I fished the canal today in 15 to 25 knot winds and a outside temp that felt close to freezing. We landed redfish, flounder, sheepshead, black drum ,trout ,jacks and black snapper. The bait was a white grub and live shrimp . The grub took most the small trout with the live shrimp bringing in most everything else. We did use a few greenbacks , but not to much action with them.
Lanark area has trout and still a few redfish along the docks . The gulp baits are working well in this area.
St George Island bridge has a good sheepshead bite using live and fresh dead shrimp. The Bob Sikes cut is holding large redfish with most being landed on cut bait.
Have a nice Thanksgiving !
