Aucilla 11-24

Post by rocket »

My cousin's husband showed up at the house just as I had the truck cranked to meet Fishmasterson for a afternoon excursion at the Aucilla. He was delivering a Caramel cake my Aunt wanted me to have, so we visited for a while, then off I went. Of course I had to have a couple of bites first :lick: .
FM gave me a cussing for being tardy, but it was worth it :-D .
When we pulled in to the ramp I was amazed at the amount of trucks parked in the parking lot. :o I'm pretty sure the State of Georgia was empty today.
I dumped him in, and it took a long time to get out of the river zig zagging around all the boats staged in the river. Then we headed east. After arriving at our destination FM hooked the first red. After that it was one after another. FM put on a clinic while I played catch up. Jigs were the flavor the reds savored. We fished a couple hours until the tide slacked. We boated 17 reds with FM catching 10 of them.
On the way in I spotted a guy in the river jumping out of his boat on to a root ball of a fallen palm tree. Directly his boat floated off (insert scratching head icon here!) We eased over to his boat to bring it back to him, and wound up towing him in. Seems he was having shear pin troubles and he figured that was a good place to fix it.
I stopped by my BIL's hunting camp on the way home for some  and bs. Mamma's pizzed now cause I didn't get home 'til after 10:00pm, :-D :-D :-D

I saw you towing that guy. If it was you I backed in right after you pulled out of the ramp.

Don't you boys know that all those rivers are born in Georgia and hence, we from Georgia have first rights to them

That was my boat RedBelly. Next time be sure and say hi. There is only one thing worse, than sitting around waiting on a slow fishing partner to arrive, and that is finding out the reason he is late was to recieve a caramel cake, which he didn't even bring with him. I tell ya, that just set the mood for the rest of the day. I guess he wound up redeeming himself after we went where he suggested we go, and ended up catching some nice fish, but next time he had better bring the cake with him.
