Decided to go to Ecofina this morning and fish in the river.. with everyone else. I was amazed at how low the water was. Settled in on a spot full of trout. Must have caught 3 limits. Used the livewell to cull and brought the best five back to Alabama. Caught fish on shrimp, gulps, and Pinfish. By far, the biggest fish were on pinfish, fished the bottom. You got to let em chew on 'em a while though.
I was glad to be in the small fish-catching boat. It doesn't hurt quite as much bouncing over the rocks and oysters. It was a great day. Well worth the 9 hour round trip.

So, PJ, you must have been holding your mouth just right. How were you holding your mouth?? We were part of the flotilla in the river and could only manage teeny bopper trout. Got a couple of flounders by bumping a gulp shrimp on the bottom .. but only small trout. I was wondering if our leaders were short (3 feet under a popping cork) .. a guy one boat over was catching more an bigger fish with a longer leader (at higher tide).
Good work man!!
