Taking Kids Fishing....HELP

Post by Algaegator »

I'm supposed to take a couple young fellas fishing tomorrow at Lake Talquin. I'm thinking catfish. Does anyone know where the catfish bite is hot enough to compensate for short attention spans. I'm planning on using cut shad, chicken liver, and worms. Since there will be four of us I can't use my jon, so the river is not an option. Thanks.

I always set up anchor on the west tip of the Iron curtain and use earthworms and Sonnys peanut butter channel cat bait, you should keep them occupied there. Good luck! :-D

Well, the fishing was a bust. We cought only one small channel cat which we released at the boat ramp. It was cold and windy. In spite of the poor fishing I belive the boys had a good time. They enjoyed the boat ride, playing with the minnows, and watching the wildlife (birds). We'll probably try it again in warmer weather.

It's amazing how much enjoyment youngsters can experience without catch'n fish! :D Us big folks need to practice that same way of living. Good job Algaegator  :D
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
