FISHIN ST.MARKS 12-12-06

Post by FUTCHCAIRO »

SINCE IT WAS SO NICE YESTERDAY, THE TWO OLD MEN OF THE SEA DECIDED TO GIVE ST. MARKS A SHOT THIS MORNIN. SHOULD HAVE STAYED HOME. WE FISHED FROM 7:30 TILL NOON AND DID NOT GET THE FIRST STRIKE. WATER TEMP WAS 55 , THE AIR TEMP FELT ABOUT 20. FORECAST WAS TO BE 5-10 OUT OF THE S.E. NOT!!!!!!!!!!! WIND WAS OUT OF THE N.E. ABOUT 15-20 THE WHOLE TIME WE WERE THERE. THE SHALLOW WATER STILL PERSIST, WE COULD NOT GET INTO THE BYOU JUST 2 HOURS OFF HIGH TIDE. I GUESS THE BEST THING WE CAN DO IS WINTERIZE THE BOATS AND WAIT TILL SPRING.

I feel your pain. Went out last weekend and ran to one hole. Caught about 20 reds, 30 trout and my fiance caught a really nice sheepie. I went solo on Sunday to the same hole-nothing, then to other holes in every creek I could access. 3 hours and not a bite. Pretty humbling---just when you think you've got it figured out :smt009 . Thanks for sharing.

:( Hey, Pa. I feel your pain. We fished Aucilla this morn'in and except for 1 keeper red, did just like y'all did. No trout at all. The red bit at 1 pm right on low tide, then nothing. Only saw 2 mullet jump all day. We quit at 2:30, don't know when I'll go back. :-?

I've had my worst and best days ever this time of year. Next time you go, they may be jumpin' in the boat. I wouldn't give up on 'em so easy. Besides, the best way to winterize a boat is to take it out and run it on a regular basis.

If Mr. Futch don't catch them I might well sweep leaves or something
awful like that rather than go fishing. :o

Or you can make a trip up here to north Ga and do some freshwater trout fishing. They love the cold weather and water!!

Sorry to hear about that Pa but at least you got on the water.

Just my opinion, but during this time of the year I follow the advice of the alligators. They sun themselves in the afternoon, and I fish for Reds in the afternoon when they too are sunning themselves.

Thanks for the report. I haven't had a day like that for a while & I'm sure I'm due.
When it happens I agree, it's enough to make you pack it in for the winter.
