piney island 5/18

Post by beerfish »

fished out in front of piney island in 3-4' of water from 11am til 4pm on sunday. caught 2- 21in trout and 1- 16.5(on pinfish) and about 6 or 7 shorts on live shrimp. set up a chum line trying for cobia and caught 25 catfish,15 sharks, and 10 ladyfish...kept us on our toes. at the end of the day had something swim my cork all the way up to the boat and i finally got the line tight when he was by the prop and i set the hook, it was a cobia about 26-28in., but he spit the hook while i was trying to get him from around the prop.man those thing are powerful!

Dang it, I allmost allawys fish out of Bottoms Landing and around Piney Island, but decided ta go out of Mashes Sands on Sunday and try the flats out there :( I did find 1/2 a dozen Reds but 0 Trout, not even a Ladyfish or Shark ta be seen :o This has been a very frustrating year thus far for me  Glad ya'll had some luck and I think I'll stick to the Piney area for a while and see if the fish show up in the Bay at a latter date
