I got excused from the house to go Christmas Shopping today....so I put the boat in at the fort around 1:30.
Since the tide was high at 2 pm, I decided to head east toward Stoney. I fished the same spot I fished last thursday, only with a little more water and sun this time. Mullet were jumping everywhere, and I could see reds feeding as close as 15' from my boat--in about 1.5' of water (I couldn't believe I didn't chase em out of there with all the racket I make). I tossed live shrimp at them, and for about 45 minutes the action never stopped (unfortunately, the biggest being only 16"). Then all of a sudden it got quiet...and I couldn't see anymore fish (except for an occasional mullet jumping). I continued tossing shrimp and losing tackle for about another 20 minutes. I was ready to leave when I noticed the reds were in the same spot again--real close to my boat. I caught two more pups and I was out of shrimp, and my "Christmas shopping" window was running very, very short. Just out of curiosity I tossed a pearl white GULP that I had a bag of in my tackle (they seemed to catch me a lot of trash over the summer)...and I hooked up right away. I reeled him in and threw him back, then headed back to the fort.
It was a beatiful day to be on the water, warm, sunny and very light breeze.

Good job
Ya know..... if you take one or two scales off each one of them pup's.... and string em on a piece of 20 lb floro carbon they make a real nice necklace ... or bracelet... depending on how the shop'n is...
Match'n ear rings are a nice touch as well

"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
