St Marks 12/19...too

Post by Reel Slow »

Last vacation day left....Got a ride on a buds boat and we headed out about 11:00 from the lighthouse. Fished till 2:30 as bud had to get back for kids function this evening. Found reds pretty much every place - points, creek mouths, and up creeks. No schools, just single fish. Landed 9 slot reds and lost a couple...all 19-23" or so, but no monsters.

Also boated 3 nice trout to 19" on topwater and a floater diver as we were following tide in. Lost one 20+ and saw several others. Trout were on the flats in very shallow water and surprisingly active smacking TW. Found a few trout hangin with a train of mullet working the shoreline and here topwater worked slowly was fun. Seems like October all over again....to top it off it was beautiful on the water and the refuge was blowing major smoke too

Yup, the trout are there. Ya just gotta be patient, and not try to horse them to the boat. :-D

I'll take a trip like that any day.
