After grouper fishing on Saturday, I decided to hire a guide out of Shell Isalnd as Little Nut wanted to catch some trout and I all I know about fishing the river consists of marking oyster bars with my keel. We headed out at first light fishing live shrimp on the edge of the river. Caught a few short trout and tiny lady fish. Spent a delightful day just watching my line as we checked several holes marked in our guide's cerebral GPS. The keeper trout seemed to have lockjaw all day, but we found numerous Reds here and there. Man do those things pull good. The highlight of the day was watching three bald eagles
fight over a short trout that had swallowed the hook and just couldn't get revived. What a sight for me and the boys. We managed a limit of reds to 26 inches and threw back many shorts. It was a great day on the water.
