Cool pics and interesting hunting comment

Post by Chalk »

I saw this link on myfwc.com nice pics the grouper is my background now - http://myfwc.com/whatsnew/FSECCphotos.htm

I was looking for something on myfwc and saw an interesting link about air rifles. It said hunting with air rifles in Florida was illegal. I found that very odd, being that I cut my teeth chasing squirrels, rabbits and various other critters with a crossman air rifle growing up in Georgia. I was actually thinking of buying a hunting air rifle and start hunting squirrels with my son, oh well.....I looked through the 2006-2007 Hunting Regulations and didn't see anything mentioning air rifles, only saw it on Ask FWC.

Yep, Most states have a minimum caliber requirement.

Get your son 1 of these and go squirrel hunting.

Jawja will allow you to use air rifles, there are some air rifles that rival rimfire rounds.

I was thinking of a 10/22 with a bull barrel Image

Yep. the 10/22 is a great rifle and there are tons of accessories to trick it out.

I bought my son the Crickett model 230 and put a Nikon scope on it. It'll shoot the eye out of a gnat at 50 yds.

If ya want to knock that gnats eye out at 100 yards, here ya go. These things are a ball squirrel huntin'...

Using Federal Champion rounds and a rest, these will do 50 cent size groups at 100 yards.

I have had this one for around 20 years.

Chalk, 22's are a blast and my favorite gun to shoot. I've got 6 different 22 pistols and rifles and there is "NO" better way to bring up a young-un than shooting them.

My favorite rifle - Marlin model 60

My favorite pistol - Ruger government target model

I shot 4 different rounds from my rifle after putting on the new scope (Federal Premium, CCI's Stinger's, cheap Remington Thunderbolt's and the SUPERIOR CCI Green Tag competition rounds).. I was trying the best pattern at 100 yards and Stingers lost. Thunderbolts came in 3rd and look at the target.
The left Target is Federal Premium and the right target is the Green Tags...
Doesn't look like many shots in the right target but beleive it or not, I shot both sides with 40 rounds. They just ate the bullseye for lunch.

Target from last Saturday...
