Despite their comments & claims, I can see the world's biggest whip knotting forming from that line in my mind

Yep. Its been my experience the smaller diameter power pro, the worse the knots.

You can't throw a fly with that line....the weight of fly line and the long rod is the vehicle in fly fishing.

I can't throw it far. With 3/4 lb I bet it will go a little ways. I'll let you know next week. It won't hurt to try. That clouser has that a barbell for eyes and it gives it a little weight.

Yea I gotta agree with you on that, but its not show boating if your trying to catch fish and thats your only way of attracting a bite. But to be honest, If a Reds hungry its really not that picky. Most of the reds we catch around here are less than 32 inches inshore, and i don't know how much it would hurt one to fight it 3 minutes longer than I would with 8lb test. I wouldn't even bother fishing if I was using 40 lb test and winching them to the boat either though.
