Yea I gotta agree with you on that, but its not show boating if your trying to catch fish and thats your only way of attracting a bite. But to be honest, If a Reds hungry its really not that picky. Most of the reds we catch around here are less than 32 inches inshore, and i don't know how much it would hurt one to fight it 3 minutes longer than I would with 8lb test. I wouldn't even bother fishing if I was using 40 lb test and winching them to the boat either though.
