This WeekEnd

We have been wanting to go fishing for a long time now.
Since the tides have been really low at the Econfina, thought we might try
St Marks ( have not fished there before)
Would it be best to put in at the Fort or Lighthouse?
hopefully catch a redfish or some trout!

Since most of the fish are in the river, I'd go with the fort

Good morning pops.

wevans has a good point. That being said, I don't think you'd have a problem either place. Winds are supposed to be East to South East and the tides aren't predicted to be very dramatic:

2007-01-12 07:33 EST Sunrise
2007-01-12 09:12 EST 1.85 feet High Tide
2007-01-12 12:35 EST Moonset
2007-01-12 13:13 EST 1.48 feet Low Tide
2007-01-12 17:56 EST Sunset
2007-01-12 19:25 EST 2.49 feet High Tide

If you want to fish the East River or points East of the lighthouse, then the lighthouse would be the closest. If you have any concerns about water and getting out then stick with the fort.

I would recommend the Fort this time of year. Fish on the flats are few. If you put in at the fort you can hit the oyster bars down river and check out areas up river, Both directions have plenty of water even during low tides.
If we were all crazy, Wouldn't that make us all normal.

With the warming trend and lower forecasted winds, I wouldn't write off some shallow water with some rock grass and pot holes...

Even with 1.48 feet at the river mouth I think there would be plenty of water for an average boat to get out snag free from the LH ramp. Less of a drive from the fort though.
