Quick update - I have all the supplies needed to finish the hull . I didn't get my fabric until today, I was actually mad at DHL for not bringing it Friday, like it was scheduled...Funny how things happen when they are suppose to...I realized I need to do some more filling and filleting in some areas and I had a few holes to fill.
I laminated in a 9" clamping board on the transom to get my 1.5â€
Two hours worth of slinging epoxy and chasing runs. (For both sides that is )
I normally prefer to lay out fiberglass wet, but it tends to be messy. The insides of the boat extend outward and down. Taping it dry and wetting in place has by far produced some of the cleanest and nicest laminations for me to date.
I just wet out a spot here and there to hold pieces in place but sometimes once you got to a previously "tacked in" spot you would get a kink in the cloth from stretching it out. Wish I'd of thought of the tape. Just tape it in and work your way down.
The tape isn't a perfect solution, when removing it, it would sometimes create a run...But other than that it worked out great. I normally folded the glass and placed it in a painter tray and poured epoxy over it and then spread it out that way...Boy have I screwed some clothes up doing it that way
Shaved the bow down today and chased down "boogers" aka globs of fiberglass and epoxy....I have been dry fitting the bulkheads and thinking of how I want to do things i.e. front hatch, rod tubes, drain's, power and such....I also baked a cake with my wife and put some barn yard pimps on the grill...Not a bad day at the ranch
To Be Continued...
The bow shaved down...pictures don't do it justice....looks really cool. well to me anyway's
