North Georgia Trout 02/03/07

Post by Browning Slayer »

Well, I finally made it to the water after a long deer season. I had to wipe the dust off the rods and put the guns away. I decided to grab the waders, trout rod and some rapalas and head to the mountains. It was a cold day!!! Got out of the truck and it was 21 degrees.... :o It snowed up here on Wednesday night but their was still a good bit of snow around.
My buddy Dave and my Dad were crazy enough to jump in that freezing cold water and do some fishing with me..
Headed to one of the honey holes...

Trout headed to the frying pan..

Pesky critters trying to get to my spot 1st....

What I took home for Saturday night dinner.. After taking the picture I grabbed a grocery bag, threw them in and packed them in snow. Got to love that free ice!

The day was great and the fishing was a little slow. I finished with 8 trout, Dad-0 and my buddy Dave-1. I caught all the fish on Rapalas, floating and countdowns in a variety of colors. Biggest fish (19 to 20'' rainbow) got off at the bank due to net sitting at home.

Man it felt great to be back on the water!

This is the time of year to catch the biggun's!
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that we had to break the ice off of the eyelets about every 6 to 7 casts cause they would freeze up. Not many people on the river at all.. :o

Nice Fish. Don't let anyone know you were using treble hooks. They string you up for that.

I actually had single hooks in the rear of my lures. It makes for a better hook up than the small trebles :o
And who would string me up? The people standing there using live bait? They might string me up cause I catch more fish! :-D
