Keaton 2/7

Post by GIT-R-WET »

Left marina at 07:15 seas was a very nice 1' or less this mornin and supossed to stay that way,so off to the deep water we go since it's been a while being out there. 1 1/2 hrs of good ride later we are catching & releasing very nice red snapper just for fun. Then we get our 3 fish limit of 12-15# red grouper and release more red grouper  .Then we find a nice gag to join the fishbox party & lose several nice fish to the structure, 1-15" scamp grouper released(1st one on my boat).Water temp 62 and very nice day, with many fish caught. all fish caught on squid & cut mackerel not many pics of this trip because we were busy and later pics was not on our minds. At 15:30 we start heading in gonna do some trolling in 55' at 16:00 the prop hub spins and the fun is over.Get on the radio call seatow 18:00 seatow from horseshoe beach is hooking to us, he's in about a 27' dusky with twin 200 everthing looking good he's towing us at 23mph we have eta at keaton of 20:00 then he spins a hub on one of the twins now we are down to 8mph with a long way to go still with a eta now of 00:30.The seatow captain ask if it's alright with me if he takes us to horseshoe instead of keaton since he's got a motor down to.The distance is about the same to both from where we are now but he was gonna have to leave keaton and go back to horseshoe afterwards.I say sure no problem I don't want you to have to do that. So Joel at keaton is gonna bring my trailer to meet us at horseshoe and load my boat there, but my sister showes up & Joel calls me back on the radio and ask if it would be alright with me to let her pick us up and leave my boat there and he would get it the next mornin since it was so late, again no problem let's do that. We get to horseshoe 00:30 unload everthing out of boat and go to keaton get my truck & leave my trailer there I finally get home at 03:00. The next mornin Joel goes picks up my boat takes it to Jack's boats & trailers for repair and I bring it home friday mornin ready to ride again.BUT WITH A SPARE PROP NOW.
Many thanks to Captain Joel of keaton and Captain Patterson of horseshoe for their help. And thank goodness I was already a member of SeaTow money well spent. And most of all thank GOD for looking out for everybody & giving us such great places to fish.

No sense in going until March 16th. Anytime after that is fine.

Well, the first half of the report read good. Was gonna say 'what a difference a day makes, but the part about being towed sounds nightmare-ish.
Glad ya had a good morning  , and sorry about ya tow woes  . Good report anyway. :-)
I like the looks of that big screen Garmin, BTW.
