I believe it was Get-R-Wet that just had a Sea-Tow experience he posted about. Seemed good, but I'll let him retell or post the link.

Only experience I have had with them was when I ran a Shell-Island rental boat out of gas. I wasn't paying, but they got us refulled and back to fishing in timely fashion. Very professional and courtious.

Let me put it like this. I do not leave shore unless I have 2 radios (one a handheld backup) and my seatow membership current.

For what you MAY need one day, it is cheap......

I ran out of gas my last trip out and luckily had Seatow. I called in and 3 hours later (we were 4 miles out of Sikes cut) the guy got there from Apalachicola. He handed over a 5gal gas can and I proceeded to pour it into the tank. It was a little rough and the tank was one of the ventless kinds, so the pour was going really slow. About 3/4 the way through I was like what the hell, this should not be taking this long. The idiot had passesd me over a 5gal can of oil. He then towed us in and said we could keep the 5gal of oil. Did he expect me to siphon it out at the boat ramp? I was pretty pissed, but better to have it than not.

I have Tow BoatUs. I have a buddy who likes to make fun of the Sea Tow guys. One day at Hook Wreck Harry's he pointed out a Sea Tow boat - had brand new Etec 225s on the back of it - and the cowlings were already cracked. My buddy claims in his experience the Sea Tow guys aren't that sharp.

They probably just got a scratch and dent deal.

Sea Tow is jam up from Econfina, had a buddy break down 15 miles offshore from the mouth, his radio sucked, his fault, we called seatow for him, we raised the Keaton Beach base. They put in the #'s the computer , found it was closer to St. Marks. He called the SeaTow in St. Marks who was on scene in 1.5 hrs. The guy was super nice, towed them all the way to the tripod. They met someone else there for the tow in. He offered to tow them all the way to the dock but they just had a buddy meet them. He was super nice , told them to fish on the way back and if they got one on just yell and he'd stop. SeaTow works fine with coverage in St Marks and Keaton. Thats who we use, I've seen nothing but good !

Cheap insurance and from what I saw, the best coverage of the big bend area.

Seatow

Post by arcadiainc »

A year or so the wife and I broke down about seven miles out from Shell Island fish camp, The ignition module went south. we were in a lonely area on a Tuesday afternoon. No boat trafic anywhere. Seatow had problems finding us but persevered. Got us home at sundown. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Just paided my dues for another year. Would not be without the service.

I have Boat US, but haven't had to use it yet. Hopefully won't ever need it, but cheap insurance if I do.
