Port St. Joe June 7,8

Post by Scott7138 »

Got ot Presnell's Fri. evening, got the tent set up with 2 other buddies and went to Mexico Beach for dinner. Was forewarned of impending storm that evening and found out the hard way when we got back and tent was about half blown over. Decided to stick it out in the tent Fri. night and woke up at day break Sat. a little on the wet side. The suggestion of "sticking it out" was from one of the so called buddies, big mistake. Could not stay on the water long enough between storms to establish any kind of pattern. Big storm hit about 10:30am Sat. and that one brought the tent down. Tried to stick it out and I think all of the guides and their clients were sitting on the porch making bets as to how long we would last in the tent. Not sure who won. Boated one nice Red 22" and 3 trout in the morning, none of which were under 18". The rain cleared out by about 6:30 Sat. eveing and caught 2 more trout one that went 21". Sunday started with about 5 shorts and alot of Ladyfish and one keeper that went 25". Most, if not all were caught on stingray grub under a CT. No luck on Fluks. Not much of a tide, not sure how much of an impact that had. I guess there was 5" of rain between Fri. night and Sat.

Good report!!

Thanks for stick'n it out and sharing the experience. Sounds like the fish wanted to bite if the weather had just been a bit more civil :D

Sounds like a fine adventure. Tested your endurance with the rain, caught a few fish, and entertained the local guides. Sounds great to me. Thanks for the report.
