Pre-weekend scouting

Post by Derfish »

With the weather changing quickly I'm a bit unsure where to go today. I am considering fishing the river near the fort, or putting in at the lighthouse and fishing the east river or the creek mouths and flats. I'm guessing it's still a bit early for the rock island explosion. Any ideas?

With a high of 78 degrees today I'd try the shallow flats near the creek mouths :P

Thanks. That was my initial instinct, I just wasn't sure how long they stayed up in the river after a good cold snap. We'll try the flats and greek mouths east of the lighthouse and report back.

This is one of those days where you just have to call in sick...

We ended up fishing Stoney Bayou. Water was crystal clear and we saw several reds up in the creeks but couldn't get them to take anything - used freeline shrimp, CJs, Gulps, and topwaters. Wind was pretty brisk, but otherwise a beautiful day - we'll get em next time. Water temp ranged from 60-64.
