Jig head types and sizes

What size of jig head would you use for lets say 2-3 ft water, 4-8 ft water, and or deeper? Also I know they have some hooks with weights on them and that size of those should you use in the same water depth? Sorry for all the question I'm trying to get out of the Live Bait faze.

For years I used nothing except 1/4 oz for everything.
Now I use 1/16 or less in 2' or less and 1/8 up to about 5'.
I seldom fish any deeper than that except for black bass
and then I use a 1/4 or larger depending on depth, tide, etc.
Just my $0.02.

WHEN I USE JIGS, I USE 1/8 OZ. JIGS WITH 3-4" GRUBS, THE ONE WITH THE PADDLE TAIL. MOSTLY USE TOP WATER PLUGS.
THE GRUB BODIES GENERALLY ARE THE SALTWATER ASSASIN ELE. CHICKEN, CANDY CORN, CHARTRUESE CURLY TAIL, WHITE BODY PINK TAIL. HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE.

1/4 oz. most always, except sometimes in cold water temps I will use 1/16 oz. to slow the fall of the bait.

Are Mikes 1/16oz jigs available anywhere around here? Closest place I know is Half Hitch in St Joe.
Really nice jigs w/ heavy weight hooks.

Look for "Mission Fishin" jig heads too. good hooks, good paint.

I still want the extra weight of the jig head for castability, but the 1/16 oz. jig will sink at a slower rate than the 1/4 oz. Just trying to slow the fall for cold weather trout. And this is only when I'm wanting to fish the bottom. Most of the time I'm thowing a weightless fluke to get that suspending action. In the middle of the water column.

Exactly, cold trout like slow moving baits. The water column can be defined as top, middle and bottom.

1/8" jig heads mostly...maybe 1/4" every now and then if the water is deep
