I went out to Oyster Bay and picked up one Trout after work today too. I tried out my new toy. A Quantum Cabo PTs20 with some newRed Power Pro 2lb and a 7'6" Terramar ML Rod. Works good.
I like it so far. It actually is smoother after fishing it two hours than it was when I started. I have two Stradic 2500 that I am sending off to get serviced. Keep in mind that I fish more than the average guy. I catch as much as the average guy, I just fish more to make up for my shortcomings as a catcher. Anyway I have lots of miles on those Stradics and am delinquint in my maintenance. I have found washing them off with a hose after each trip is just noit enough. You really need to break them down and washe them good after each trip. Same with this new Cabo too though.
Its 2 (Two) pound test and I buy a 300 yard spool and I back it with a couple of wraps of 6lb mono. I does not take the whole spool. I have some Stradic 1000's with 3/4 lb test which is equal to 5 lb and they each have a 150 yard spool on them.
I was wondering..... I have an old Cardinal 4, with apparantly a really deep spool. I think I remember it actually having at one time a clamp to put on it to make it shallower. But I bought 150 yards of 10 lb. power pro yesterday to put on it, and looking at the spool of line and the reel's spool, figured it wouldn't even fill half the reel spool. Probably oughta back it with some mono. Two lb. must be dang near invisible to the naked human eye. Tiny.

I usually back with mono and use half a 150yd spool per reel. Or spool the whole thing on but reverse it onto another spool when it needs to be replaced. I have used some PP over 1 season with good results.
