A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
So I am thinking about wade fishing some accessible spots this weekend (anyone with a boat and no partner give me an email), what tide conditions should I be looking for?
"Incoming tide near the grass line"
That is what I have been told, is this the best tide for me?
I was thinking today that outgoing would pull food out of the grass and the predators would be around to take advantage, it just seems contrary to what I have been told.
As long as the water is moving your okay....But you need to know the strength of the tide, if the difference from High to Low is only .5 or vice versa, thats not much water movement. Your thoughts about an out going tide are logical thoughts.....A rule of thumb I follow is out going tide fish the outside of structure, incoming tide fish the inside of the structure....Water moving is good, but I have caught fish at slack tide too....This handsome fellow is CSMarine, this trout was caught near slack, if my memory serves me correctly
Fish when you can, but planning around tides helps on catch'n
I used to really worry about the tides, now I just worry about time to go...if the tide is right fine, if not, well , enjoy injoy the time on the water..
Your memory is correct it was right at slack tide. Throwing to the grass he ate it ten feet from the bank, and about ten feet from the boat. I hunted a partner all week for Keaton. No takers, now I can't go this weekend. Doing the Papa thang with chillen and grand-chillen for Papa's Day.
Be careful Thursday and Friday later afternoon / early evening. We've got some low, low tides late this week. Barely enough water at sundown last night for a 14' tunnel hull aluminum to make it back to the lighthouse ramp. I'll be looking for ya'll on Friday late, and Saturday and Sunday at St. Marks. 15' Whaler with 50hp Honda 4S.
Scared? Heck yes I'm scared. I done obligated myself for Friday with a hot tempered little lady from the Philippines. She still remembers how to use a butterfly knife pretty good. So I guess I'll keep my date with her.
Folks, having nothing to do with the whig, Chalk done talked me into braving the filipina typhon at home, and the low front on the Gulf tomorrow, so it's been nice knowing ya'll.
Where should we send the flowers....
Hope you guys really get into'em. While I was home at lunch, tried to get the wife to agree to go tomorrow . She pointed out that company was coming in Friday evening.... you know the rest! The three W's all have to be aligned.
I'm ready, I have my swimmies to put on and an old german WWII helment with a spike (lightning rod) for CSMarine to wear ...I called SEATOW and got reservations Coast Guard said they would be looking for us.....FMP said they would come by and check us since we were from Georgia
