Keaton Beach 2/27/07

Post by birddog »

I found an opening in my schedule today that would allow me to do a little pre-fishing for the NFGFC tourney at Keaton. I gave Barhopr a call and he readily accepted the invitation.

We got to Keaton around 9:00, quickly unloaded and made our way down the canal. Ran into the Woods and Water team heading out and recognized Capt. Pat McGriff onboard. Quickly hailed him on the VHF and got the latest scoop on the trout. Many thanks Capt. Pat.

Hauled tail on out the channel and quickly headed in the direction Capt. Pat recommended. We were in place by 10:00 and quickly began putting trout in the boat. 1st trout came on topwater. My favorite. 8) Not to be outdone, Barhopr quickly puts 1 in the boat on his double super secret lure.

The trout bit great until a little after 12:00 during the slack tide. Around 2:00 we made a big move. The trout turned on again. We put in the boat 1 after another until 5:30. Ended the day with 27 trout between 17" and 25.5" and 2 redfish to 25". Caught 'em on topwater, soft jerkbaits, jigs, suspenders, floater/divers, and gold spoons ( 8) ) I had a great time Barhopr.

Can't wait til next time.

Wish you guys could have found some fish...better luck next time. 8) An email including a picture of your GPS track would be helpful

He likes to downsize in the winter time. Little cokes, little cigars, etc.
