St Mark's 3/3/07

Post by Ron Wilson »

On Friday evening, my plans were to work Saturday for about 1/2 to 3/4 of a day. Woke up Saturday and changed my plans.......hooked up the boat and headed to Shell Island Fish Camp. Launched about 12:40 to catch the incoming tide. Made a couple short stops at some oyster bars heading out of the River. Decided to try a couple creeks. Poked my head in Horn's Creek, nothing. Let the tide push me in Stony Bayou, nothing. Fished the mouth of the Bayou, nothing. Decided to head back to the oyster bars in St Mark's River. Picked up a couple nice trout, one 19" and one 22" as the tide began it's turn. It was pretty windy, and water temps ranged from 67 around the oyster bars to close to 70 back in the Bayou. Got back to the dock just before sunset. All in all, a pretty good day to be on the water, and certainly beat working. Can't wait until next time.

I forgot to add. The fish didn't appear very aggressive. All I felt was a "tap" with each fish, and though the bigger one gave a little fight at the boat, they both still appeared a little lethargic.

Thanks all. It's been a while since I've been out.....work's been whooping me. Got a little recharge on my batteries, but I'll be spending the next 3-4 hours tonight catching up on what I had planned to do yesterday (I just have a better attitude about it). :)

Must have just missed you. I launched at Shell Island around 11:30 and probably got back about 6:15.

I know what you mean about recharging the batteries. Glad you got to go out and get a couple of fish
