Shell Island 3-3

Post by Redfish Jim »

I've really missed keeping up with everyone at BBFN but I'm slammed right now at work and will be for the next couple of months.

Felt lucky to get out yesterday. Had major high hopes like always. But the weather was kind of weird and things were a little slow. Still glad that I went.

Final take home tally:

- one grouper from 20' barely 22" but dern good eating for me and the wife
- one trout about 19" (in a creek)
- one 25" redfish (in a creek)

Threw back 4 other redfish, all in the 23" - 25" range. Bite turned on suddenly just after the tide started dropping. Had about 20 minutes of furious action and then they either left the area or quit biting or maybe I just hooked all that were around. Don't know, but it sure was fun while it lasted.

The wind got nasty so it was a slow ride back to the river.

Sounds like some major tournament heroics by some of our regulars this weekend. Very impressive

More than half of my trips were far worse than that. Sounds like a good day to me.
