spinning reel or casting

spinning reels tend to to work better with the llighter stuff = more line on reel with braid

casting reels should match what there specs call for = heaver lb test with braid

my spinning reels 4/12 braid

my casting reels 12/30 braid

I tend to fish certain lures like topwater and spoons with a baitcaster, and also weedless jerkbaits. I use jigheads and light hardbaits with my spionning reels. The baitcaster have a better drag design and "More Better" for bring in those big fish, or the little ones covered in grass. Just my opinionizzle.

I haven't found anything I can't throw with a casting reel. I'm also a clutz with a spinning reel.

You can get more distance with a baitcaster than you want to retrieve. You can get more accuracy with a baitcaster than you ever will with a spinning reel.

I think that has more to do with what you're used to useing most. I feel I'm pretty darn accurate with a spinner and can send a 1/8oz. jig a long, long way. Of course a 7 1/2 - 8 foot rod helps too.

Yea, all of my rods are 7'6" amd 8' which is very helpful in a kayak.

Day in and day out a good spinner like a Daiwa SS and balanced rod
is best with accuracy from a 1/16oz jighead up through
3/8 oz plugs and spoons...in the right hands of course!

For most folks I think it boils down to whatever they use the most.

TC, I'm glad you can but the last time I had baitcaster in my hands all it did was go over the side and sank like an expensive rock

. Did mention it was a wedding presnt from the in-laws?

I have both, I can match or exceed my spinning reel distance with my baitcasters. My baitcasters are always finely tuned and some what modified, as stated it's knowing your tool.

Note I said match or exceed, which means beat

I talked to Vogelhund about it, he couldn't explain it....I can out cast my stadic 4000 on a 7' ml action rod using 15 lb power pro using my shimano bait casters. It's probably the user, maybe the rod, dunno
