PUSH POLE
YA CAN MAKE A GREAT PUSH POLE OUT OF 1 1/2" PVC, BE SURE TO CAP THE ENDS SO IT WILL FLOAT IF IT FALLS OUT OF THE BOAT. IT TAKES ONE (T) AND 3 END CAPS.. PUT THE (T) ON ONE END AND PUT TWO 10" PIECES OF PIPE IN THE (T) HORISZONTALLY, CAP BOTH 10" PIECES AND THE OTHER END OF THE POLE. THE ONE I HAVE IS 16' LONG AND WORKS FINE.

Get a closet rod. They come in lengths up to about 20 feet. Diameter is 1-3/8 inches. Not the strongest out there but will work well if you do not attempt to pry a 1000 pound boat out of the sand. I put several coats of spar varnish on mine. Looks kinda classy if I say so myself. Oh yes, burn your name and phone number on it. It floats and you have a chance to get it back if you loose it.
PVC question?
Do you make it so you can break it down into two peices.

No---It is one piece. I took a 3/4" piece of plywood and cut a two inch circle. this was epoxied to one end. The pole has been a success. It is lightweight, inexpensive and attractive. I feel the need for nothing more.
