At times of the year those nice reds are thick. Most locals used to just want to chase the gator trout. Might have to sneak back down there for another looksee. My old Cuban guide with his old 20hp Johnson Seahorse motor passed away about 15 years ago and I haven't had the heart to go back.

Ron, we saw a few HUGE trout; but, they saw us way before we saw them. Like Mudducker said, if you want the real test, go after them. The reds are cake compared to those things. No we didn't catch a keeper. The 29 incher was the baby of the bunch.

Rocket, we were tossing live shrimp. You didn't throw until you saw them. The rest of the time was spent looking for them. Every one of them was in 2-4' of water. You could have caught one or two with no problem on artificial; but, I don't think we would have put 8 in the boat. The wind was also a real issue. The guide couldn't stake the boat off it was blowing so hard. You got one shot and then you were by them. I think now that I've done it, the next time will be artificials only to see how I fair. The gator trout are also calling my name.
