...and a Hells Bay to go with it.
I always visit the Greenwaters when I go to Kevins. Otherwise, I haven't found a rod that really ranks for less than $100. I hadn't accepted the advantages of a really (really) fine rod until I bought my first St Croix. For the money I'd probally lean towards Shimano but I don't know much otherwise.
I'll watch this thread & hope to learn something.

Thought about the G Loomis / St. Croix line however if'n I spend that on a rod I'll have to keep it due to this going to a novice fisherman afraid it might take a drink. Have looked at the Shimano line.

The Shimano Clausus(not sure on the spelling) 7'6" one piece. It is the lightest rod I have ever had. I have a 2500 Symetre on it now and can fish all day without even a strain on my shoulder or arm. I don't know if they made a new model for this year but I have had mine for 2 or 3 years and that is some sort of record for me. I have a Terramar also but compared to the Clausus it is much heavier.

Yep...thats the red 1...much better than the Marshmaster in my opinion.
couldn't find good info on this rod on the intarweb in 5-10 minutes on google - do they make one about 7' that would pair up with a Stradic 4000 (as in do you think it's a good idea with the bigger reel)? Any other suggestions for the 4000?
