NFF, you may be right. The pec fins are def shorter for a jc. I wonder if the sun obscures the black spot. If that is a pomp, it is a monster. CH did you get another pic? I hope the flesh turns out white for you.

let us know how it turns out

I am kinda leaning with you on this one. If you go back to the earlier post I made in this thread, the link has a photo of both a Jack and a Pompano. This fish looks too slender to be either to me.

But it could be the photo perspective, because the trout look too long and skinny too!

Wow, that second pic looks a lot different than the first to me. That looks like a pompano. Sorry for questioning

It was the sun playing tricks. I can't wait to try it, I've never had pompano before. I hear the grill is the way to go.

After you try that one grilled, on your next try baking with rock salt and parchment paper. The salt holds the moisture and flavor in. They're delicious prepared any way!

				Speaking of jack crevalle....
How are we supposed to pronounce it around here.
Noticed from the fishing shows there are local versions.
We always said cre val...but I hear others say cre vally.
Wouldn't want to get it wrong

Hard to tell, but it appears to have more yellowish tint like a jack.

I've always said cra -velle. Like chevelle. Jack cravelle. I'm probably wrong as "cravalle" has an "a" in it.
OP- great post and wow what a pompano! Congrats!
