Disagree.
If you aren't loosing drag when fish get close to the boat then you sir have been lucky.
Alternatively, if you haven't had to increase pressure to keep a snook out mangroves or bull reds from spooling inshore equipment, then that is lucky as well.

You just made my whole point. A 1/3 drag will slip at the boat. Allowing you to save fish that would otherwise break your line. Alternately if you are targeting these larger fish you are probably using heavier line. No matter the 1/3 line rule applies to all line for inshore fishing.

Shouldn't have happened on a properly maintain reel. I routinely(sp) set the drag on my cobia rod/reel for around 8-10lbs of drag. Never been spooled.

My Chronarchs drag is no more than 9 lbs, and I use 2 lb PP which is 10 lb Equiv. I haven't been spooled on it, but I haven't caught anything that big yet. However, in the yak, I would just put it in the front rod holder and go for a sleigh ride.

If you are looking for IGFA records on light line, I would recommend not following that process.
