Butch and I found some good fish on Friday. We knew we had a chance if those same quality fish bit Saturday. Only problem was 9 extra boats on our fishing hole on Saturday. The St. Joe boaters don't mind cutting you off, trailing your drift and running thru your drift. Some of them even sat there with binoculars and would come to any boat that had a fish on.I have to admit our club members were the best behaved fisherfolks on the whole bay.
Five of our 11 boats brought in a limit or better of trout. Those boats stayed away from the higher traffic areas.
Several guide boats came in with their parties before I left. They hung their fish for pictures. Our people did much better on quantity and quality fish.
NFGFC fishermen are becoming fishermen to reckon with.

Right on, Steve. Rude boating has gotten worse at SJB over the last few years. I believe that it is because that area is so confined and more and more tourists are showing up wanting to fish. I'm sure you've seen it, but scallop season is the worst. I always pray for a poor scallop season at SJB so the Yahoos will stay away.

Speaking of SJB scallops. Captain Fred at Presnell's told me there are more and bigger scallops there now than he has seen in years. He said they are usually dime sized right now,but they are all quarter sized that he has seen. He said the bottom under the grass is littered with them.
Too bad,huh?

We saw some pretty ones over in THAT corner  but not much any where else :smt004 Jackie and I fished hard for the two that SHE put in the boat :-D I guess that I can only land fish when not in a tourney :smt010 all the more reason ta have a quality pard, which I have had for all but the first two tourney's "fished by my self during those" :-D That is one pretty bay they got there, lots of Cobia  but I did notice that folks where worse than over our way about FINDING a spot near someone catching fish "or just bending a rod on bottom" :smt012 I know I aint lost nothin over there ta go lookin for till "maybe"" next tourney over that way

Wevans, don't give up on SJB just yet. There is some real good fishing NW of where we fished if you want to make the run. The best part is not many people fish it. But with the winds we had Friday and Saturday it wasn't worth it to us to go there.
I'm talking about 7 to 12 miles. You would love it if you saw it.
