long weekend report from L.A.(lower al.)

Post by MstrBaiter »

Hit the yellow jacket tourny this past saturday, caught alot of species, but not alot of size on 'em. Pulled the bait net early morning, had bait for days....countless croakers, shrimp up to 7" long, squid, white trout, crabs.....everything but silver eels was caught in one 15 min. pull. But regardless of the bait you have, if the big boys don't want to eat, then they aren't going to eat I guess. Lost a few nice ones due to the rigs, one smoker king due to the anchor rope, never had a king hit a flat line all day.....strange :? All aj's caught were small, but i did manage a couple on a jig, so that's allways a good time. Wind was N at about 10-15 early and subsided as the day went along. On the water by 530am, back at the marina around 530-6 pm.

My buddy was down from M'gomery and wanted to try and get a trout sunday morning....I was beat down from the day before but told him we'd atleast try.....but not too early  He bought a couple doz skrimps and we hit Dog River. He threw the shrimps, I chunked a gulp grub, we tried the mouth of the dog and a few other spots upriver.....all we got was one flounder that I caught on the grub.... Put the boat back into the river that evening for a little joy ride w/ the chica....

...and got this little guy out in the bay on a live shrimp that was left over from the morning run, 6.93 (25") slot.....
