HHA Saturday

Post by tin can »

I haven't heard from a guest angler or the organizers for the HHA trip this Saturday. Anyone have any information?
What was I supposed to do today?

I just spoke with Scibelli regarding HHA. He said be at Shields at 7 am with your boat and you will be given a client to fish with .
This goes for anyone who has not heard from HHA or has already been assigned a client. All club members who said they would be there are on a list, any club member or any forum member who can assist is asked to be there. They have 12 people more than they have boats to assist.
Shields is providing free boat launch to all participating Captains.

Need a little direction here from Captains whom have participated in HHA previously.

Should I buy some shrimp (although I don't normally use them) for my guest?

Should I just anticipate that it would be best if they used a cajun thunder set up?

Should they wear a life vest while on the boat?

Anything else I need to know that would be helpful?

It's going to depend a lot on who they match you up with. Since you probably don't know (my assumption), my suggestion would be to be as ready as possible for any level of skill, experience, and physical capability. Don't approach it as a tournament, just from the standpoint that your taking out someone who doesn't fish much and will be tickled to death to catch fish...that means any fish. Some folks will be better off dragging a jig with a shrimp on it while others may be well suited to throwing a CT. I'm afraid it's another one of them things where what's good is what works. Wish I could be more help.

Good luck.

ps as to the question of wearing a PFD, that again depends on the individual. Can they swim... how difficult would it be to retrieve them if they were to end up in the water.... etc. Your the Captain...do what makes you feel comfortable with the situation.

Thanks Bud

I don't know that your answer helped enlighten me any more than I was  but I'm sure it will all work out.

I don't view this as a tournament at all I just want them to have a good time and catch something! Preferably something to keep just for their sake later.

Sea ya there

I will be there with my boat. If there is someone who is willing to Captain a boat but their boat is out of commission, someone has donated the use of a rental boat and HHA was in need of someone to run it. My dad was going to help out, but has been put on medication that demands that he stay out of direct sunlight.

Wish I could be there, that is probably the biggest blessing you could ever wish for,to see the smile on someones face that can't do that for themselves.Good Lord willing I'll be living on the forgotten coast soon though.

I will be there with my tournament partner. We have two clients going with us out of Shield's around 8:30.

Jumptrout -
Is there a certain time we are supposed to be back at Jerry's for pictures and the fish fry?

All HHA Captains -
Please take pictures. I will probably go to one of the Rotary Club luncheons after the event with a slide show and speak to the members. They like to know that their money was well spent and it generates the support needed for next year.

Thanks -

Steve,

Are you going out at 8:30 because you already know who your clients are instead of the 7 am time?

I am taking the person I took last year. I am picking him up on the way down.

Since we did not have enough captains, I am adding a second rider to my boat. He is supposed to be delivered to Shield's at 8:30.

I got a call from Ms. Sandra Hunter last night telling me what time to expect my second client.
