Where's Live Oak Island

Post by Rainman »

I've heard of fishing around Live Oak Island and I was curious if anyone would be willling to give me an idea of where that's at. I usually put in at the Light House. I've looked at the charts on Jerry's site and I noticed a Live Oak Point next to shell point. Could it be the little island to the right of live oak point or the one south?

Live oak point is the southern tip of Live Oak "island". It's not really an island, well it sort of is. It's surrounded by marsh so it doesn't look like an island on the map.

Live Oak Island, Live Oak Point, it just depends on who made the map you're looking at.

If you put in at Shell Point and run east, you'll have a whole lot shorter run than if you put in at the lighthouse and head west.

It might help to check the sat photos before you go. The pictures show most of the major structure a lot easier than I can explain it. :D

Well I'll be. There is a Live Oak Point off Hwy 361, near Dekle Beach and Jug Island. I did not know that. :D

The infrared sat map is quite good on terraserver. I did a cut and paste larger map using that.
