Is it possible to install a brass fitting on an aluminum boat? I noticed the plastic, threaded elbow fitting on my aluminum boat was allowing water intrusion. It is on the underside of the hull, and is connected to a hose that allows the water to drain from the livewell.
I kept noticing an abundance of water in my boat during my last two fishing trips, so this afternoon I put a few inches of water in the boat, and found it was leaking at the plastic fitting.
I could easily replace it with another plastic one, but would like to use one that is brass. This would eliminate another one from cracking, and I would not have to worry about breaking it on a rock/oyster bar.
My only concern is electrolsis, or some kind of detriment for having the two metals in contact with one another. Of course I will have some kind of sealer (5m, etc) between the two.
