Question for the Techs

I'm running XP on my computer with Service Pack One. I was told by a "trusted" source then when Windows prompts to download Service Pack Two not to allow it as there were many problems with it.
Well after a year or so of not updating to SP2, windows said support for SP1 was running out, so I updated to SP2.
While half way through downloading, a prompt came up that said not responding. I gave it some more time, and it did not change. I clicked cancel, and decided to start over. My computer froze, and responded to nothing. Not even ctrl/alt/del.
Well after 24 hrs, I unplugged it and things seem ok. However I have a Netscape browser (or server, it's the one I double click to get on the net if that helps) that takes me to my Sprint/Embark homepage, and when I click it nothing happens. I also have Mozilla, and can log on using it, but the Netscape has all my favorites saved, and takes me to my home page.
How do I get the Netscape to work again.

Add & Remove programs, uninstall Netscape & then goto Netscape and redownload

And before you reinstall Netscape  go here and download the full install of XP SP2 onto your computer before you try to install it :-D It will take a while to download, but the lose of connection is ruled out as a problem this way and if you loose connection during the download, it does not affect the computer in any way :smt004 Do the install from the file "266 Megs" and DO NOT stop the upgrade process once it starts

Yep, need to make sure SP2 installs completely first. Then start diagnosing problems.

Dont know who your friend is but lets be polite by saying he doesnt have a clue what he is talking about.

His friend probably remembers when SP2 came out, it was buggy at first and alot of people had trouble at first, but that was awhile back

OK, my computer says SP2 is installed. I guess it went through initially. TO clarify, when Sprint came to install my DSL, the tech used Netscape to get to earthlink. Why I don't know. I don't use Netscape for anything, only a means to get to earthlink. I just dbl click it, and it takes me to my home page.
I uninstalled Netscape, and it is gone. Now I'm trying to set up earthlink as my home page, but I don't know what my password is :smt013 :smt013 :smt013
Thanks to all for the help.

Your internet is going to bel slow for weeks. If you just now installed sp2, you are 40 to 50 fixes behind.
