Keaton Report 9/23

Post by beatswork »

Hey all, made it back from a great day of fishing. Fall is for sure here, somebody flipped the switch and the fish woke up, and they were hungry. Let me begin by saying I only brought home one keeper trout. I am a little ashamed to own up to it, but there it is. I can already here all y'all too, "But I thought you said they was hungry." They were. I caught a bunch of trout, could only keep one because the rest had to grow up a little; but man I had something pulling my line most of the time I was out there. I caught a few sea bass, blue fish, a huge ladyfish that gave me one heck of a good fight, blue fish, and dadgum lizardfish. Not to mention I got caught cut off a lot. The water was crystal clear and I didn't want to put wire on fearin' it would spook the fish. Well after I got cut off about a dozen times and I lost a mirrorlure, I opted for wire. As soon as I put it on, I got hardly a bump. Fished like that about an hour untill I couldn't take it anymore and took the wire off. A few casts later I got cut off. Figured I'd sacrificed enough tackle to the Gulf and headed home.
I was fishing in 5 foot most of the day, closer to Spring Warrior than Keaton. It didn't seem to matter what color was on, fish went for it. Cut bait and pinfish didn't do anything but bring in the sharks.
If we are not supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?

Good to hear, sounds like a good day fishing.

Do you use a leader or just straight line to lure. You might try a 25 - 40 lb fluoro leader and not get cut off as much. It usually works for me.
